Raise the Floor of Capability

The bottleneck for smart, non-technical people who want to build with AI is not intelligence. It is setup.

A lot of people who could build something useful with AI never get the chance because it is still too technical. If nobody wires up a working environment for them, if they have no connection to their own data. They stay users of other people's tools instead of builders of their own.

I run a small AI agent on a tiny home server. Setting that up takes a bit of technical work. Connecting tools, managing it, wiring in data sources. My girlfriend could not build this from scratch.

But she does not need to build it. Once I connected her Garmin watch data to the same agent she already uses to input vocabulary to her program, she starts creating training and exercise plans. She can ask it to pull her workout data, look at what she actually did, and build a training plan around it. She works out the details herself: what to adjust, what to push, what to rest.

If you have a foundation, and data sources, ordinary people can become agentic engineers for their own needs, and maybe even the needs of others. She is not a developer. She has no interest in becoming one. But with the foundation in place, she is building her own fitness tool.

The gap is not her ability, just setup. Once that barrier disappears, more people can build exactly what they need. And the same applies to your employees, and your customers most likely as well.
